Hardware.info is closing down
The Dutch community has lost one of the largest tech sites.
A leading Dutch platform for PC hardware reviews, renowned for its in-depth analysis and side-by-side comparisons of computing components, has recently ceased operations. This platform was celebrated for its prolific output, delivering an impressive 260 reviews and 440 reviews since March 2020 alone.
The shutdown of this resource is a considerable blow to the PC building and enthusiast community, particularly within the Netherlands, where many depended on its expert reviews to guide their computer hardware purchases.
Hardware info: The End
In an emotional farewell, Frank Everaardt, the seasoned editor of a prominent Dutch PC hardware review site, has penned his final editorial piece. Emphasizing his reluctance to end his tenure, Everaardt reflects on the vibrant energy and determination that have fueled the platform’s success, allowing him to lead and produce over 260 detailed reviews this past year.
The site, which began as a passion project by three tech aficionados in 2016, later joined the larger media conglomerate DPG Media. Despite a challenging interlude marked by personal recovery, Everaardt expresses gratitude for the overwhelming support from the community.
Under his stewardship since September 2021, the platform has flourished, delivering more than 440 reviews and numerous in-depth features since March 2022, re-establishing its commitment to quality and excellence. Acknowledging the efforts of his team and the support from various brands, Everaardt takes pride in the site’s accomplishments.
With a nod to the future, Everaardt extends his best wishes for 2024, while announcing the difficult decision to conclude the site’s operation under DPG Media’s umbrella. He assures the community of his continued presence in the industry, albeit not within the walls of the familiar brand that many have come to regard as home. He signs off with heartfelt thanks, marking the end of an era for the website.
Frank Everaardt, the esteemed Editor-in-Chief of a notable Dutch technology review website, has overseen the site without disclosing the specific motivations for its closure. The site’s editorial team is reportedly integrating with Tweakers.net, another Dutch platform known for its tech news and reviews, which also operates under the ownership of DPG Media.
The company has announced that the original site will be transitioned into an archive, ensuring the privacy of its user base by anonymizing all user accounts.
