MSI’s New CLAW Handheld, Featuring Intel Core Ultra Processor, Debuts at $699

MSI has recently introduced its inaugural handheld gaming console, the CLAW. Setting itself apart in the market, this device is the first of its kind to incorporate Intel’s Core Ultra series CPUs, complete with Xe-LPG (Arc) graphics technology.

Entry-level models are priced at $699 and come with a Core Ultra 5 135H processor, a 512GB SSD for storage, and 16GB of RAM. For those seeking enhanced performance, a more robust version is offered at $799, which includes the advanced Core Ultra 7 155H processor. Additionally, MSI confirms that the CLAW is equipped with LPDDR5-6400 memory, ensuring swift and efficient performance.

It’s significant to highlight that the device comes with the latest WiFi-7 and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity options, which are not yet offered by competitors such as ROG Ally or Legion GO.

MSI has verified that its handheld console features a 7-inch IPS screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a 1080p resolution, capable of producing up to 500 nits of brightness. The screen also has VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) capability for smoother visual performance.

The device, which has a weight of 675 grams and houses a 53Wh battery, is expected to last up to two hours on a full charge, a testament to the efficiency of the Intel architecture. Additionally, MSI points out that the CLAW boasts a cooling system with air vents that are 50% larger than those found in competing devices, underscoring its superior cooling performance.

MSI has announced that the launch of the CLAW handheld is slated for the initial half of this year, although the specific release date is still pending official confirmation.
