Intel Unveils Upcoming 14th Gen Core ‘Raptor Lake Refresh’ T-series CPUs
The comprehensive range of these yet-to-be-released desktop processors was recently spotted by the tech hardware informant @momomo_us.
A couple of months ago, Intel unveiled its 14th Generation Core processors, known as the “Raptor Lake Refresh”, for desktops with a standard Thermal Design Power (TDP) of 125 watts, targeting the premium market segment that includes avid gamers and enthusiasts. These processors also cater to a broader audience that may not prioritize overclocking capabilities. Many pre-built systems are equipped with the Core non-K series CPUs, which are well-received for their balance of performance and cost-efficiency despite their limited overclocking potential when compared to their K-series counterparts.
Intel is actively expanding its CPU offerings to include non-K models with a TDP of 65 watts, as well as the T-Series CPUs with an even lower power requirement of 35 watts. These T-series processors are especially suitable for environments where low power consumption and minimal cooling are crucial, such as in home servers or embedded systems, where the demand for high core counts supersedes the need for peak single-thread performance.

Recent insights from the tech informant @momomo_us have shed light on the intricacies of Intel’s T-series lineup, specifically concerning their boost clock frequencies. Intel is set to adjust the maximum boost clock of these CPUs down by 200 to 300 MHz, varying by specific model, in comparison to their 65W counterparts. The peak turbo clock rate is a crucial factor, but it’s important to note that these CPUs will also have a restricted base clock frequency, ranging from 3.x GHz on the 125W models to 2.x GHz on the 65W models, down to 1.x GHz on the 35W variants.

For those in the market for 35W options, the selection will vary from a modest 2-core offering in the Intel 300 series up to a robust 24-core i9-14900T. The lineup is further defined with a 20-core i7-14700T, a 14-core i5-14500T, and an i5-14400T with 10 cores, alongside an i3-14100 with 4 cores. Notably, there’s an absence of an i5-14600T in the current selection, which could indicate a potential cancellation or a later release date.
