As of January 5th, GTA 5 and four additional titles were removed from Xbox Game Pass. However, on February 2nd, Persona 3 Reload is set to be included in the service.
Microsoft announced that as of January 5, Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5) is no longer available on the Xbox Game Pass. This fan-favorite game was first added to the Game Pass collection on July 5, 2023, marking the conclusion of its six-month period as part of the subscription service.
Unlike the standard procedure of announcing new additions to Game Pass in advance, GTA 5’s entry into the service was a surprise, with no prior notification, surprising many subscribers. Also, titles from Rockstar, including GTA 5, often leave the service on non-standard dates, differing from the usual removal schedule on the 15th or the end of the month for other games.
Long-term subscribers, familiar with the service’s patterns, had anticipated GTA 5’s exit, noticing its listing in the “Leaving Soon” category on the app a month earlier. Despite predictions of its removal by year’s end, GTA 5 remained accessible on Game Pass past December 31.
Earlier, there were rumors about GTA 5 potentially leaving Xbox Game Pass on January 15, but it was confirmed later that the game exited the service on January 5.
On this date, not only did GTA 5 bid farewell, but four other games – Garden Story, MotoGP 22, Persona 3 Portable, and Persona 4 Golden – also left the Game Pass roster. However, February 2 will see the addition of Persona 3 Reload to the Game Pass, marking its debut. This new version of the classic game aims to fill the void left by Persona 3 Portable’s departure.
