ASUS Expands Its Lineup with New Navi 32 GPUs
Surprisingly, ASUS has not extended its ROG STRIX line beyond the RX 7600 model. The company’s current RDNA3 card range mainly features TUF Gaming and DUAL designs. This trend indicates a greater emphasis on NVIDIA GPUs by ASUS, with 14 AMD designs compared to 69 for the ASUS RTX 40 series.
Notably, there are some unique models like the TUF White RX 7800 XT, ASUS’ inaugural venture in such TUF models, and an exclusive that wasn’t mirrored in the RTX 40 series for a couple of months. ASUS has recently added two new AMD Navi 32 cards to its DUAL series. These feature a standard dual-fan cooling system and a 2.47-slot thickness. These DUAL cards showcase a design previously reserved for NVIDIA models. This is a departure from the Radeon RX 7600’s use of the older RX 6000 series design, marking a shift towards a more modern and streamlined aesthetic for the latest Radeon releases.
The recently introduced Radeon RX 7700 XT DUAL OC and RX 7800 XT DUAL OC graphics cards feature a similar design but vary in their technical specifications. Each card is built around the Navi 32 GPU architecture. The RX 7800 XT is equipped with 3840 Stream Processors and comes with 16GB of memory. On the other hand, the RX 7700 XT is outfitted with 3456 cores and has a memory capacity of 12GB.
The official images of these cards indicate that both models require two 8-pin power connectors. This is in line with what is typically expected for Navi 32 desktop GPUs. While a combination of a 6-pin and 8-pin connector could suffice for power requirements, it’s noted that most manufacturers producing the latest generation of GPUs have moved away from including 6-pin connectors.
The RX 7800 XT DUAL OC Model Boasts Enhanced Performance ASUS has equipped the RX 7800 XT DUAL OC with an impressive factory overclock, reaching game and boost clocks of 2213/2520 MHz, exceeding AMD’s standard 2124/2430 MHz configuration. The RX 7700 XT also gets a boost, with clock speeds of 2239/2599 MHz, surpassing AMD’s 2161/2544 MHz. These overclocked settings are enabled via ASUS’ GPU Tweak Software.
Early Price Points for ASUS’s RX 7700/7800 DUAL Series Emerge in Europe. Initial European retail listings show the RX 7700/7800 DUAL series graphics cards marked up by €100 compared to the most affordable custom models with identical SKUs. While these prices may initially appear steep, it’s key to remember that they may not represent the ultimate pricing. Surprisingly, the faster TUF models are currently advertised at a more economical rate. Consumers are advised to stay vigilant for price updates from their chosen retailers.
